This is the most comprehensive type of inspection and is strongly recommended when purchasing a new or used vessel. The condition and overall operation of the vessel will be inspected. This covers structural integrity, electrical systems, propulsion system, fuel system, other machinery, navigation equipment, various onboard systems, cosmetic appearance, electronics, overall maintenance, an out-of-water inspection, and a limited trial run. Landon Yacht Surveying performs visual engine inspections only*. An engine surveyor or mechanic should be consulted if a more comprehensive engine inspection is desired.
Also known as Condition & Valuation Survey, this assessment is performed so that the insurance company can decide whether or not the vessel is an acceptable risk. Insurance providers primarily focus on the overall structural integrity and safety standard compliance for the vessel’s intended use. Insurance companies generally require surveys of older boats.
This assessment gathers adequate information to support or determine the vessel’s fair market value. This is usually needed for financing, estate settlements, donations, and legal cases.

Upon request, we will collect a small volume of oil from the marine engine(s) and generator(s) for oil analysis. An oil test can provide valuable information about the metal wear and general condition of the engine. The samples are drawn into a small, clean bottle, sealed, and shipped to a West Palm Beach, FL, laboratory.
